Gary Williams, long time Maryland basketball coach, retired yesterday third all time in ACC wins. He resurrected the program from the ashes in 1989, when the Terrapins were still in the after-shock of the death of Len Bias. He brought Maryland a National Championship in 2002, and posted a 461-252 record in 22 seasons at his alma-mater. He announced his retirement just one day after 1st team all-ACC player Jordan Williams signed an agent for the NBA Draft. If Maryland gets a new head coach who is half as good as Gary Williams, they should be satisfied.
