Official as of last night, the playoff series that everyone wanted to see will happen, when those scumbags that call themselves the Miami Heat take on my squad, the Boston Celtics. The series kicks off May 1st at 3:30 down in Miami. Heres why I'm not as concerned with the series as other Celtics fans seem to be...
1) Rajon Rondo vs. Mike Bibby- Rajon Rondo is the key to how far the Celtics make it in this post-season. Our season is on his shoulders to distribute the ball to the Big Three. Mid to late regular season, it was a strugg-fest for Rondo, but he seemed to get his groove back going against an inferior PG in Tony Douglas (once Chauncy Billups got injured). Mike Bibby is a veteran, but he is also inferior to Rajon, who will exploit him throughout the series.
2) LeChoke- I don't know if you guys noticed, but the Heat can't hit a buzzer beater, or any clutch shot whatsoever. They are not going to blow out the Celtics, they simply don't have the depth. I predict every game to be close, and to win close games you have to hit clutch shots. Look at Games 1&2 of the Knicks series. Celtics have Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen hit incredible clutch shots to get their teams the tight win. Expect more of that in this series.
3) Jeff Green and Jermaine O'Neil- These two Celtics will play pivotal roles in this series. Even though the Celtics traded Kendrick 'Abdul-Jabbar' Perkins, we won't see a colossal big man down in Miami. I think Jermaine, though old and rusty, is the best center n this series. And while Kevin Garnett occupies Chris Bosh, J.O will have to grab some big boards and get the ball to the playmakers. Also, expect Jeff Green to finally come out of his shell this series. Looking back, Celtics fans will remember this Jeff Green like we remember James Posey from the '07 run to the title. Quote me.
4) REST- Boston has all the playoff experience a team can need, and sweeping the Knicks was the best thing they could have done. A team like this, old, experienced, and riddled by injuries, needed as much rest as possible, and that was exactly what they got. Now their experience can come into play against a Miami team going through their first playoffs as a team.
Though Miami assembled their super-team, the run ends here.
Prediction: BOS 4-2
